Tarpon Springs is often considered one of Florida’s most interesting small towns, there is a lot of history and culture here.

Sometimes referred to as 'The Sponge Capital', Tarpon Springs derives from the Greek immigrants that settled here in the last 19th century and harvested the sponges which grew in abundance off shore. Much of the ambience in the resort owes itself to this heritage.

Grand Victorian houses and towering oak trees line the boulevards, with a lovely dock area forming the central hub of Tarpon Springs.

Here you will find quaint old buildings, an abundance of souvenir shops and plenty of Greek family restaurants, all providing a carnival style atmosphere within the town.

Tarpon Springs is only a 30 minute drive from Busch gardens, and just a little further from the beautiful white sandy beaches of Clearwater.

Closer to home is Buccaneer Bay, Florida’s only waterpark that is in a completely natural setting, and the Weeki Wachee Spring “City of Mermaids” show both in Spring Hill which is only a 15 minute drive to the north of Tarpon Springs.
