This wonderful 11 day Artisan Adventure in the Wild Northwest will take you to San Francisco, Fort Bragg, Arata, Coos Bay, Lincoln City, Portland & Seattle.
You will fly from your chosen airport in the UK to San Francisco to start this adventure. On arrival in San Francisco you will collect your car and drive to your hotel- staying 2 nights in San Francisco. Whilst exploring the wonders of San Francisco why not take a cable car to Fisherman’s Wharf for an unforgettable view of the Golden Gate Bridge. A trip to San Francisco would not be complete without seeing the famous Alcatraz. We recommend pre-booking your Alcatraz trip so as not to be disappointed. This popular attraction is normally fully booked.
After your 2 nights stay you will depart San Francisco heading north to Drive-through Tree Park where you can drive your car through the base of a Redwood tree! Continuing north, you will reach the Sonoma Marin Cheese Trail and Cloverdale Wine Country. In the evening, your accommodation is at the coastal city of Fort Bragg, a historic lumber town where you may wish to ride horseback on the beach or walk along the Fort Bragg coastal trail.
In the morning set off on the world famous Avenue of the Giants: a 31 mile drive with 51,000 acres of magnificent Redwood Trees, the tallest tree species in the world. You will have the opportunity to browse the many artisan shops in Eureka with lots of specially crafted items made from the special burl wood. Your accomodation in the evening is in the town of Arcata, home to the Redwoods. Local attractions include the Zip-lining canopy tour and the Six Rivers artisan brewery.
In the morning it is recommended to take a morning stroll along the shores of Humboldt Bay before heading North through Redwood National Park and cross the California border into Oregon – Americas Wild River Coast. You will stay overnight in the Coos Bay area.
Your coastal adventure continues through the spectacular Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area with a seaside drive alongside lighthouses, marinas and parks to the town of Lincoln City, named after the 16th USA President, Abraham Lincoln. You will stay overnight in Lincoln City.
Drive Inland through the fairytale-esque Tillamook State Forest, with its evergreen trees covered in bright green moss, to the city of Portland. Portland is known for being the most walkable city in America and you will easily find some of the best local shops all within walking distance of your hotel. You will stay 2 nights exploring all the wonders Portland has to offer.
Departing Portland you will head towards Seattle for the final leg of this journey. En route are both Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier National Park, both active volcanoes and part of the Northwest’s ring of fire.
