The narrow gauge Harz Mountains Railway is a delight for rail enthusiasts who want to experience a true nostalgic steam affair, travelling over 140km of track and 400 bridges.
- Day 1 – Depart London in the morning and make your way to Cologne where you’ll stay for the night, with time to enjoy an evening meal and take in the beautiful “Dom” (cathedral) lit up by night.
- Day 2-5 – Travel to Wernigerode, spend 4 nights exploring this enchanting German town. We have included a 3-day ticket for you to enjoy the full Harz Mountains Railway (Harzer Schmalspurbahnen, or HSB) at your leisure during your stay.
- Day 6-7 – Today you leave the Harz Mountains behind you and head towards Hannover – take some time to visit historic Goslar, the Old Town with its characterful timber buildings and ornate carvings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a wonderful place to stop and eat. Or if you prefer to arrive in Hannover, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the charming capital of the Lower Saxony region where you’ll stay for one night before making your way back to London tomorrow morning.
